why many people dislike the Gospel (Grace)

Posted: September 10, 2012 in Uncategorized

Most of us think that we are not righteous. Ask 10 Christians “are you righteous? Yes or No?” and you’ll see what I mean… Maybe you’re one of them- who will answer “No I’m not.”

Maybe you think that righteousness can only be possible when you don’t commit sins? Or that we may lose our righteousness whenever we fail? Or that righteousness is for “holy people “ only- for a select few who made it? Maybe you think it’s presumptuous or egotistical to call yourself righteous. But that’s not what the bible says. If righteousness was a standard based on our actions- then simply no one is righteous. But if it is a gift to be received, then you’re up for good news. Are you ready?

Awake now, You are the Righteousness of God !

Have you ever struggled with something that you can’t seem to get rid of? Maybe a sin or a habit that you keep on repeating over and over again. Something that causes you to keep blaming yourself each time you fall, and make promises and resolutions that you end up breaking, only to find yourself even worse after?

Today, you will learn something powerful enough to completely deliver you from that habit:Knowing that Jesus gives you a gift which is eternal and that cannot be taken away from you.

“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard..Yet God with UNDESERVED  kindness, declares that WE ARE RIGHTEOUS, He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as sacrifice for atonement through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins  committed beforehand unpunished” – Romans 3: 23-26

Sinners are declared righteous freely by God’s grace though the redemption that is in Christ Jesus whom God set forth as propitiation through faith in His blood. Therefore, God can declare His righteousness for having passed over those sins in the past time of self-restraint. God is righteous in forgiving sinpast, present and future.

“But this man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God… For by one offering He hath perfected forever them that are sanctified.” – Hebrews 10:12, 14, KJV

Forever! Not for a day. Not until the next time you sin. Forever means forever! You are cleansed forever ! You are Righteous forever!

Righteousness is a gift because of what Jesus has accomplished on the cross for you. All your sins- past, present, and future-have been washed clean by His precious blood. You are completely forgiven and from the moment you received Jesus into your life, you will never be held liable for your sins ever again. You have been made righteous as Jesus not through your own works, but by faith in Him and His finished work on the cross.

“So not by my own works? But.. I didn’t do anything to become righteous!”

This is exactly right. You did nothing. And Jesus did nothing to become sin. Yet that’s what he was on the cross that day when he exchanged places with you. You are clothed not with your own righteousness, but with Jesus’ perfect Righteousness. It is a gift that He purchased for you with His own Blood!

Righteousness cannot be earned by good works. It can only come as a gift.

A gift is is no longer a gift if you have worked for it.

“For if by the one man’s offense, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness  will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ” – Romans 5:17

So how do I become forever righteous?

The burnt offering speaks of the righteousness of Jesus being transferred to you at the cross.

In the book of Leviticus, You will see that of the five (5) offerings, God put the sin offering last and the burnt offering first. Man puts it the other way round- we first come to God with all our sins because that is what we are most conscious of! Thanks be to God, all our sins are judged as a sin offering at the cross of Jesus. There is nothing wrong with this, but God does not want us to stop there. He wants us to know Jesus did not just die for our sins, He also died as our burnt offering to make us well-pleasing, righteous, and favored before God.

That is why the burnt offering is offered, it ascends as a “sweet aroma” to the Lord. The sweet aroma from the burnt offering speaks of Jesus’ beauty, perfection, and loveliness to the Father.

The burnt offering speaks of Jesus’ worthiness before God, His acceptance before God and His Father’s delight being transferred to you.

Today, God favors you in exactly the same way He favors His son.

Sin Conscious? Or Righteousness Conscious?

The power to overcome sin is found in knowing that YOU ARE RIGHTEOUS. When a believer is struggling with sin, it is a case of mistaken identity: He thinks that he is still a dirty rotten sinner and as a result, He will continue to live as a dirty rotten sinner. But the more he sees that he has been made righteous apart from his works, the more he will be empowered to live righteously.

Right believing leads to right living.

“If you don’t want your life to remain the same, the solution is not in changing your circumstances , the solution is in changing your heart, changing what you believe.”

For generations, the body of Christ has been defeated and put under a constant siege of condemnation from the accuser because they believe wrongly that the Holy Spirit convicts believers of their sins.

Let the truth sink in and be set free by the knowledge that the Holy Spirit Is your Helper, given by God to convict you of your righteousness in Christ. Even when you fail, He is ever present in you to remind you that you are continually cleansed by the blood of Jesus. That’s the Holy Spirit.

Today is the day that the Lord will set you free from all struggles, guilt and condemnation!

Pray this simple prayer:

I believe, Jesus. I believe! I believe that your sacrifice was enough- to pay for all my sins. I believe that your blood is enough- to cleanse me from all my unrighteousness. Your righteousness is a gift- and I receive it today. I give you all my bondage, all my addictions, all my defeat, all my condemnation, and instead I receive from you this gift of Righteousness. I am righteous! I am righteous! I am as righteous as YOU- because my righteousness comes from you! And I know that that is enough- to free me from all my struggles and bondage today- in Jesus’ mighty name! Holy Spirit- remind me everyday that I am the righteousness of God in Christ- because of what Jesus has done! Jesus- you are my Lord, you are my Savior, You are my Righteousness!

It is time to awake to righteousness and sin not. Right believing leads to right living. Believe that you are righteous and you will start living like a righteous man or woman of God. Condemnation maybe the deepest root, but today you have found the solution- simply believing that You Are The Righteousness of God because of Jesus Christ!
